MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT

Multimodal transport is an efficient solution for connecting different destinations quickly and cost-effectively, combining road, rail and maritime transport.

Combined intermodal transport

Trailer specializes in multimodal combined transport of heavy and bulky loads, offering dedicated solutions for materials up to 15 meters in length and with a load capacity of up to 29 tons — a higher value compared to the standard 22 tons typically used.
Our trailers, equipped with side pockets and reinforced edges, allow simplified loading operations with cranes directly at the terminals, enabling a more dynamic, faster and more efficient handling flow. Thanks to our expertise, this transport method is a highly advantageous solution that we primarily adopt for the EU market.

Trailer owns more than 100 swap bodies for road–rail operations and manages the entire intermodal transport chain, overseeing all break-bulk and delivery activities with its own resources and/or selected partners.

Conventional multimodal transport

This conventional transport solution allows the main leg of the journey to be covered using the most efficient mode—often rail—in order to optimize time and costs. This choice is particularly advantageous when dealing with goods whose characteristics make road transport less efficient, such as bulky or heavy items, exceptional transport, or cases where it is not possible to fully utilize the load capacity of road vehicles (“empty to full” transport).

Trailer directly manages every phase of the logistics system: from loading and unloading rail wagons to final delivery via road transport.

By leveraging the economies of scale offered by rail transport, we make the benefits of rail accessible even in areas not directly served by the railway network, thanks to integrated multimodal transport solutions.
